September 1999 games special
Welcome to APC's latest dedicated games CD. Excuse us if we sound like the proverbial judge at the kindergarten talent quest, but with so many great games on the market and megabytes running at such a premium, it was extremely hard to decide which games would make it on the CD and we had to set firm criteria.

We avoided choosing games solely because they were the most visible on the market. We wanted to give our readers a CD that would carry them across the full girth of the gaming experience. Each of the games on the CD have been chosen because they have unique or outstanding qualities that make them worthy representatives of their genre.

We hope you enjoy this special edition of the CD.

CD Highlights
Before You Start
Before installing any programs, please read the disclaimer.

Many of the games that you'll find on this disc have special requirements, and some need advanced video hardware such as a 3D accelerator card to run. Before you install any of these demos you should read the system requirements. Please remember that these specifications are the minimum required by the manufacturer to run the game at all. Even if your system meets these requirements, there is no guarantee that the game will behave in the manner suggested by our abstracts and screenshots.

DirectX
Windows games frequently need DirectX, so be sure to read the instructions below and any Readme files included with these games. Download the DirectX 6.1 file \utility\dx61eng.exe to your local drive, then run the program from the command prompt.
